Contest Rules

  1. The official tournament start time is at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 30th, 2026. The official end time is 4:00 P.M on Sunday, May 31st 2025.

  2. Upon registering and paying your fee, you will be invited to the tournament on the Fishtechy App.

  3. Only 1 or 2 barbless flies may be used. Any combination of flies may be used. All forms of fly fishing are allowed with the exception of center- pinning.

  4. Spin/traditional fishing is permitted with the use of artificial lure with only 1 or 2 barbless hooks. No live bait or bait, or treble hooks allowed.

  5. Catch and release only please. We are hoping to help our fishery support a robust wild fish population.

  6. Fish do not have to be held in order to qualify for scoring. They can remain in the net as long as we can tell there is a fish and the Fishtechy Proof Ball can register it.

  7. In order to maintain a fair playing field, no watercraft are allowed to be used for tournament purposes. All fishing must be done from foot access only.

  8. Fishing is allowed on all portions of the Truckee River (CA and NV) during all legal hours of the day and you must comply with all local Nevada and California Fish and Wildlife Laws and Regulations.

  9. Most Importantly have fun and be honest! We are hoping to create a community of people who care for the well-being of this incredible resource and bring them together to keep the Truckee as beautiful and healthy as it can be.
